Yvonne
Kemper is a specialist in children and youth in conflict contexts.
She holds Masters Degrees in international affairs from Georgetown
University’s School of Foreign Service and in peace and
security studies from the University of Hamburg. In her latest post
as a Child Protection Advisor in the United Nations peacekeeping
mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC), she was in
charge of monitoring, reporting and denouncing the most grave human
rights violations against children in North Katanga.
Ms.
Kemper has a broad experience in devising guidelines, trainings and
research studies on issues relating to conflict transformation,
including children associated with fighting forces, socio-economic
reintegration of ex-combatants, migration, small arms trade, and
gender in post-conflict areas. Her most recent publications on “Youth
in war-to-peace transitions” and on the EU’s approach
towards children and armed conflict attest to her superb research and
