Bob Duffy

Bob Duffy is a trained industrial technical teacher who holds a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and has over thirty years experience as a specialist in the area of employment and training (E&T). Initial international experience was gained in whilst working as a training and development specialist in the mineral extraction industry in Asia, Africa and Central America. He joined the ILO and worked as an advisor to governments in the Asia Pacific region in the formulation, design, implementation of policies and programmes/projects related to vocational education and training, skills development and employment services. His activities have covered staff development, teacher education, design of modular curricula and quick impact course construction. He has been responsible for the design, layout, tendering, provision and installation of equipment for over twenty large industrial training centers. Moving to Geneva with the ILO he was responsible for E&T programmes and projects in other parts of the world including the Middle East. More recently he has applied this experience to assist in post conflict and post crisis countries including Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Cambodia, Kosovo, Indonesia and Pakistan. Other activities include the training and development programmes for training officers and employees within private sector enterprises. Contracts have been undertaken for Bougainville Copper Limited, Fluor Mining and Metals, Broken Hill Proprietary Limited, Canadian University Consortium, ILO, ITC, UNDP, AsDB, World Bank, Luxembourg Development, UNMIK, the International Training Centre of the ILO, the HEART Trust of Jamaica and the International Federation of Training and Development Organizations.
